El Segundo, CA - May 11, 2000 -- Universal Interactive
announced its selection of Artificial Mind & Movement to develop
its Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas film
property into a video game for Sony Playstation, Sega Dreamcast,
and PC platforms. Konami of America will publish The Grinch
this Thanksgiving to coincide with the release of Director
Ron Howard's live action update of Dr. Seuss' holiday classic,
starring Jim Carrey.
Players will assume the role of the Grinch and explore magical
Whoville and its surroundings, fiendishly seeking to stop
the arrival of Christmas. Set in familiar Seussian environments,
The Grinch combines an edgy mixture of puzzles, non-violent
action, collection and exploration.
"Successfully translating a traditional entertainment property
into the interactive game environment is a challenge," said
A2M CEO Remi Racine. "Especially with a universally recognized
character like the Grinch that is embedded in American popular
culture."
"It is an exciting venture, and we are grateful to Universal
Interactive for selecting us and to R.E.D. for securing this
opportunity," Racine said. A2M is a premier character-based
video game developer whose previous credits include Jersey
Devil and Bugs Bunny: Lost in Time.
R.E.D. is the video game industry's leading representation
company and assists talented video game developers in securing
development agreements with publishing companies.
