Heavy Iron Studios to Develop Video Game Franchise Based on Evil Dead Horror Movie Trilogy

El Segundo, CA -- October 10, 1999 - THQ Inc. has announced that its new division, Heavy Iron Studios, will develop a new, multi-platform product series based on the Evil Dead cult-classic horror movie trilogy.

Players will assume the role of Ash - the square-jawed, shotgun-toting, chainsaw-armed hero from the Evil Dead trilogy played by Bruce Campbell - in a new story that continues the ongoing saga of the Necronomicon ex Mortis, also known as the 'Book of the Dead'.

"We are pleased to have played a role in bringing a classic entertainment property like Evil Dead to video games," said R.E.D.'s Paul D. Cunningham. "Matching the talents of Steve Gray and his development team with the growth and expansion objectives of THQ to form Heavy Iron Studios is something we take pride in doing."

Los Angeles-based Heavy Iron Studios is a new division of publisher THQ and is comprised of a core group of experienced game producers, programmers and artists that have worked on the PlayStation hit Parasite Eve, as well as several feature films including True Lies, Apollo 13 and Titanic.

R.E.D. is the interactive game industry's leading representation company and assists talented interactive game developers in securing development agreements with publishing companies.
